When a coin crosses your target, a push notification arrives instantly — localized in English or Arabic to match your app language — powered by a server-side evaluation engine that checks live prices every 60 seconds. The permission prompt only appears when you actually create an alert (never just for browsing), with a friendly explainer shown first and a graceful fallback on web where push isn't available. Fly tying is a craft you build one pattern at a time, and The Vise now celebrates that journey. Our new gamification system quietly tracks every pattern you mark as tied and turns your growing skill into a visible climb. You start as an Empty Vise and work your way up a ladder of seven ranks — Apprentice, Bench Hand, Journeyman, Fly Tyer, Master Tyer, and finally Grand Master, earned only when you've tied all 109 patterns in the library. A progress banner right on the Browse screen keeps your rank, your overall count, and your per-category progress front and center, while smart filters let you flip between what you've already tied and what's still on your list. Along the way you'll unlock achievements — from your First Fly to the All-Rounder (a fly from every category), Category Master, Half Century, and the Centurion for 100 patterns tied. Everything lives on your device, private and offline-ready, so the only thing you're competing against is your own last session at the vise.
Version 1.5.0 — AI fly ID and saltwater patterns
The Identify tab now uses AI to recognize flies, backed by new tying resources. A whole new set of saltwater and flats patterns arrives with species filters (tarpon, bonefish, permit, and more) and new tyer profiles added to the Fly-Tying Pioneers section. A new Hook Size Finder tool on the Learn tab matches a real hook against your screen to find and confirm its size across the dry, nymph, streamer, and wet/scud families — and each pattern's Hooks tab adds a "Find this hook size" shortcut that jumps straight in pre-set for that pattern, plus a suggested hook type (Dry Fly, Nymph, Streamer, or Wet), including barbed and barbless hooks.
Version 2.0 — your market command center
Our biggest release yet turns Crypto Pulse from a market viewer into a personal command center. Set your own Signals thresholds and get buy and sell alerts the moment your conditions are met, with recently flipped coins highlighted and dismissible. A new Bitcoin 200-day moving average hero card shows long-term trend at a glance, and the app is now fully localized in Arabic with true right-to-left layouts. Personalize System, Light, or Dark appearance and haptic feedback, explore a richer About screen with tappable data-source details (CoinGecko, Alternative.me, Yahoo Finance, CoinMetrics), and a new first-launch notice and Disclaimer screen make clear it's built for education, not financial advice.

The Vise now speaks three languages. Full Japanese (日本語) and Spanish (Español) support localizes everything — not just menus and buttons, but all 90 pattern recipes, materials lists, step-by-step tying instructions, tier biographies, and the glossary of tying terms. Switch instantly with a three-way toggle in Settings, or let the app auto-detect your device language on first launch.
